Doing Things That Scare Me: Part 3
In September, I bought a plane ticket to New Hampshire. I did it because I was scared, and buying the plane ticket scared me too. When I got on that plane last Saturday, I was nervous that the trip would make me want to live there even more than I already did, and because I knew that we were going to tour UNH. It's scary when you know that in a short 7 months, you could be packing up and moving nearly 3,000 miles away from the people that you love and the life that you have there.

I kind of hoped that touring UNH would make me realize that it's not the right school for me and that I belonged in the PNW. Unfortunately, that didn't happen. I'm still just as in love with it as I was when I came back from New Hampshire in August 2011. It rained when I visited last week, and I felt right at home. The campus is beautiful, there's a train that runs right through the town where my aunt and uncle live, and even without students on campus, the vibe was perfect. While it hurts to think about leaving Brandon, my family and friends, and my dog behind, it hurts me to not be there. I know that I will regret a lot if I get in and don't go.
So that's part 3 of this never-ending series. I'm currently working on my application, and I'm hoping to submit it in February, along with my applications to UMass, and UVM (among a couple others that I'm still considering even applying to). While I'm nervous about getting in--like every other applicant, ever--I'm using positive self talk/thinking, which have helped me be successful in other areas of life. I'll leave you with a couple of the quotes that are inspiring me to keep moving forward, too:
"I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear" -Nelson Mandela
"We gain strength, and courage, and confidence by each experience in which we really stop to look fear in the face... we must do that which we think we cannot" -Eleanor Roosevelt
"Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you have imagined" -Henry David Thoreau
